Insomnia and I: a nightly affair

IN SO MaNy InelAborate reasons (yep, that’s me trying to emphasize a subject), I am awake while the rest of the world sleeps. The universe has decided that the Earth, while revolving around the sun, should spin on it’s axis, thus, allowing for half of the world to bask under the sun while the other half walks under the moonlight . I’m not trying to change that. I’m not even trying to change nor complain about the fact that it’s already 5am and I’m still awake. What’s to change or complain for? Nobody forced this on me. Is this even really insomnia? They define it as “a sleeping disorder that causes one to have difficulty falling or staying asleep.” I don’t believe I fall under that category. I am awake because I choose to be. I choose to extend my waking hours so I can do the things that I have planned for the day, and it just so happens that the Sun and I do not agree on when his shift should start and end.
Yes, this could be me. Only instead of lying in bed, I’d be up and about even at this time. In fact, I actually find myself more productive in whatever I decide to do within the so-called unholy hours. I am temporarily relieved of unwanted phone calls and noise distraction and rewarded with uninterrupted thinking with only the constant ticking of the clocks and the hum of the air conditioning units in the background to keep me company. So there, I don’t feel so alone at all.
